Boston BioCom LLC Announces Formation of Jantibody Therapeutics LLC
January 15, 2008 Boston BioCom announced that it has established Jantibody Therapeutics LLC as a wholly owned subsidiary focused on the development of novel biological therapeutic products based on a breakthrough technology platform created at the Massachusetts General Hospital. The Jantibody technology platform is based on the unique immunogenic properties of heat shock proteins (HSP) known to generate a powerful cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) immune response. In the main line of products called Jantibodies, the HSP unit is linked with the single chain variable fragment (antibody binding site fragments) of a monoclonal antibody against a therapeutic target such as a tumor cell receptor. Jantibodies represent a new class of "supercharged" monoclonal antibodies that not only can selectively bind the target, but also recruit professional antigen-presenting cells to generate an exceptionally strong CTL response thus destroying the tumor cells.
