Boston BioCom LLC Announces License from Massachusetts General Hospital for Novel Antibody Technology
January 28, 2008 Boston BioCom announced that it has acquired exclusive rights from Massachusetts General Hospital to a new class of therapeutic antibodies that utilize heat shock protein 70 (HSP 70) fused to monoclonal antibodies or antibody fragments, as well as novel, self-assembled heat shock protein vaccines. Boston BioCom has established a new, wholly owned subsidiary, Jantibody Therapeutics LLC, to develop these technologies into marketable products. Because heat shock proteins have unique immunogenic properties that are known to generate a powerful cytotoxic immune response, the first target for the new company is cancer, with initial emphasis on breast and ovarian cancers.
